Crista Echo-Hawk graduated from the University of Colorado Law School. During law school, Crista served as Cultural Liaison of the Native American Law Students' Association and co-chair of Street Law, a subdivision of the CU National Lawyers Guild chapter. She worked as a student attorney for the American Indian Law Clinic and researched death-penalty case law for the Colorado Public Defender. Crista also worked as a research assistant for the author of an upcoming book analyzing the ramifications of various Indian law policies and decisions.

After law school, Crista clerked for the Native American Rights Fund and worked in the property management industry. Prior to law school, she attended the University of Colorado, where she participated in the two-year President's Leadership Class scholarship program, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Sociology.

Crista is admitted in the state of Colorado and the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska Tribal Court. She practices in all areas of Indian law and provides representation in some family-law and landlord-tenant matters.
